Kermanshah is located in a mountainous area with 1200 m above the sea level in the center of Kermanshah province and enjoys mountainous moderate climate. Kermanshah is known to be the India of Iran because of its climatic, national and religious diversity, and having four seasons at the same time. Kermanshah consists of 5 parts, ”Bilor”, ”Firuzabad”, ”Kozran”, ”Mahidasht”, ”Markazi“, 4 cities and 13 rural districts. Kermanshah is the 9th biggest city, the second royal Sassanid accommodation, one of the tourism cities with natural, historical and cultural attraction of Iran.
Paraw Cave, one of the biggest caves in Paraw Mountain, enjoys a global reputation. This city is so significant being located on the way of north to south and east to west roads and vicinity to Iraq, Karbala and Baqdad and because of that it has left the important cultural and spiritual tremendous impacts.
Taq-e Bostan historical site is located on a hillside with the same name and next to the fountain in the northeastern fringes of the city of Kermanshah. The complex is built in the third century AD and enjoys a great artistic and historical value. Firstly, the Sassanid kings chose an area around the Persepolis for making their statues. The Ardeshir II and the kings after him chose Taq-e Bostan located on the Silk Road with natural lush and high water level. There are some rock painting monuments such as the Artaxerxes II coronation and two arches in Taq-e Bostan. Shapour II and Shapour III have been depicted on smaller arch and Khosrow Parviz depicted on the larger one.
Tekye-ye Biglarbeigi is one of the old and important buildings of Kermanshah which sits in the old part of the city opposite to Friday Mosque. The construction of of the building began in 1892 by Abdollah Khan Farrashbashi, known as Biglarbeigi. The building was completed in 1898. The stucco work and mirror work decorations were completed in 1909. This building has an impressive space and beauty. It consists of mirror worked hall, several rooms, alcoves, porticos, and a central big courtyard. This yard has beautiful mirror works, stucco decorations, inlayed decorations, and sash windows. It has three entrances. The main entrance is in the northeastern side. The pediment of this entrance has plaster vaults and stucco decorations.
