Iran, once Persia, is a major player in the Middle East. It has a large land territory and is centrally located in Eurasia and Western Asia. It has a wide array of neighbors including Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey and Iraq. It is also close to Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates which are located south and east of the Persian Gulf.

The Caspian Sea is the largest lake in the world and is in the north of Iran. And Persian Gulf and Oman golf are in the south of Iran. Tehran is the capital city of Iran and is the largest and most populated city in the country. Also, Isfahan, Shiraz, Tabriz, Kerman, Yazd, Kashan, Kermanshah, and Mashhad are other famous and historical cities in Iran. The official language is Persian (Farsi). The principal language of the country is Persian (Farsi), which is written with the Arabic alphabet and spoken by about 60% of the people. Other groups speak Turkic dialects (25%), Kurdish, (10%), and Turkish, Armenian, and Arabic. Among the educated classes, English and French are spoken.

The central and eastern part of Iran consists of deserts. The Kavir Desert is the largest of Iran’s desert. The Lut Desert is another desert in Iran. Also, there are some salt lakes in this area. Iran is a vast country and has different types of climate: mild and quite wet on the coast of the Caspian Sea, arid in the plateau. Cold in high mountains and hot and wet on the southern coasts near Persian Gulf. Generally, Iran is an arid country. Although, in the west and the north the rains are more than in the east and south. Summer is sunny in everywhere. Finally, Iran is famous for its four-season weather. It is considered as one of a few countries in the world where visitors may experience all four seasons in the country all along the year.

In the legendary history of Persian foods, cooking started since the kingdom of “Zahak”. Before that, the demons were familiar with this art, and they cooked a variety of delicious foods. The method of cooking, are depending on the variety of raw used materials, or the region where the food is commonly known. Some of the most important Iranian meals are “Ab-gosht”, “Ghormeh-Sabzi” and “Iranian Kebabs”. Breakfast is one of the main dishes in Iranian foods culture. “Adasi” (Related to lentils), “Halim” and “Kale-Pacha” are the most important specialty foods in Iran that have a lot of fans.

Travel through this amazing country to visit new cities, colorful bazaars, and ancient Persian ruins. Islamic architecture and shining deserts, magnificent mosques, ancient caravansaries. And old cities of the ancient Persian Empire with architectural masterpieces and unique natural wonders. The hospitality of the Iranian people is endearing and profound the beauty of their land.
