Skiing first started in the 1930’s in Iran and is now commonplace. Stretching between the Alps and Himalayas, Alborz Mountains have created some of the most amazing slopes and valleys, of which some have been hosting skiers and snowboarders for decades. There are around 19 ski resorts are across the country, and the potential for ski touring is virtually limitless!
Dizin, Shemshak and Darbandsar resorts are located in the same area, and only 70km North of Tehran. You will find great snow conditions, long slopes and nice freeriding / ski touring trails.
Take half a day to visit Tochal, the highest resort in Iran. The resort is small but the view of Tehran from the top is breath-taking. From the summit, you’ll find long and nice off-piste trails with a northern exposure, which descend into a valley 20km from Shemshak.
Dizin in Alborz Mountains, north of Tehran established in 1969, is the crown jewel of all ski resorts of Iran. Because of its snow quality and a lengthy ski season Dizin was selected as an international ski resort by International Ski Federation.
Shemshak, Darbandsar, and Tochal are the other ski zones of Alborz Mountains. At Shemshak the skiing session doesn’t end by the dark, you can enjoy sliding down the steep slopes under the starry night and the bright light projectors.
